British foreign secretary calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

David Lammy set to meet Israeli and Palestianian leadership to discuss two state solution to crisis.

LONDON: The new British secretary of foreign, common wealth and development affairs has said that there is an urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza war that has been going on since October 2023.
According to media reports, David Lammy will soon visit Israel and Palestine and will stress on both sides for an immediate ceasefire and release of hostages.
According to a statement issued by the British Foreign Office, the foreign minister will also hold discussion with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas about the two-state solution to end the Middle East crisis.
The statement said that the deaths and destruction caused by the war in Gaza were unacceptable and should be stopped without any further delay.
It may be noted that over 38,000 people have lost their lives in Gaza strip due to the war that started last year.
Israel has disregarded international calls for ceasefire and has been carrying out aerial and ground offensives killing civilians and destroying houses and even hospitals. Thousands of people have also become displaced.
