NEW DELHI: A road accident occurred in the Indian state of Jharkhand, where a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims collided with a truck filled with gas cylinders.
According to Indian media reports, the collision resulted in the deaths of at least 18 people. Images from the scene show the bus completely destroyed due to the impact.
Local officials confirmed that the pilgrims were traveling to a Hindu temple to observe the holy month of Shravan when the accident happened.
Rescue teams, including police and medical personnel, arrived at the site promptly to assist the injured and recover the bodies. Several passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals, where some remain in critical condition.
Authorities have ordered an in-depth investigation into the cause of the crash, focusing on possible mechanical failure or human error. The state government has also announced compensation for the families of the deceased and those injured in the tragic incident.
