Bushra Bibi granted bail in Toshakhana case
Islamabad High Court judge orders release of Imran Khan's spouse on surety bond of Rs1 million
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday ordered the release of Bushra Bibi, wife of jailed PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan, in the Toshakhana case.
The court accepted the bail application of Bushra Bibi on surety bond of Rs1 million.
When Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb took up the bail plea, he asked the investigation officer if he conducted and probe after transfer of the case. The reply cane in the negative.
In his remarks, the judge said that British Prime Minister also took home some gifts which he had received and upon objections he said that he kept the gifts under rules. However, the British Prime Minister was told that keep the rules aside as a premier he also had a stature.
The judge told the investigation officer said you and the deputy attorney general should visit Azerbaijan. He said in Azerbaijan gifts received given to the head of states are kept in a museum along with their pictures.
The investigation officer said that Bushra Bibi was charged with keeping a jewellery set but as the set is unavailable its value cannot be ascertained.
The judge said that if Bushra Bibi had not deposited the gift why her husband was implicated in the case. The investigation officer said that Imran Khan was the public office holder.
At this the judge remarked that it seems be the same case as the one against Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.
