Canada restricts citizens from visiting Pakistan

Travellers cautioned about concerns related to civil unrest, sectarian violence and incidents of kidnapping.

ISLAMABAD: Canada has issued a travel advisory for its citizens in Pakistan and asked them not to travel to certain areas.

An advisory issued by the government of Canada said there were possibilities of civil unrest, sectarian violence and incidents of kidnapping.

It also asked its citizens not to travel to areas within 50 kilometers of the Afghanistan border, 10 kilometers of the borders with India and Iran, and within 10 kilometers of the Line of Control.

Other restricted areas included Karakoram Highway from Mansehra to Chilas, Balochistan, and KP, excluding Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Buner and Chitral district.

The advisory comes after increase in the terrorist activities in different parts of the country.

The advisory comes in the wake of security issues in KP and Balochistan and some other parts of the country. Terror attacks have increased in these two provinces in the recent months.
