NEW YORK: An 18-member student delegation from the Faculty of Law, Université de Sherbrooke, Canada, visited the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations and received a detailed briefing on Pakistan’s foreign policy and its engagement with the UN.
Ambassador Usman Jadoon, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, briefed the students on the country’s priorities as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, its contributions to UN peacekeeping, efforts to counter Islamophobia, and its outlook on multilateralism.
The students, who will represent Pakistan in the upcoming Model United Nations, actively participated in a Q&A session, raising questions on issues such as global peace and security, women’s rights, confidence-building measures, water resource management, the Gaza and Jammu & Kashmir situations, and UN Security Council reforms.
The visit provided the students with a valuable opportunity to better understand Pakistan’s diplomatic priorities and global positions.
