Can’t dictate Pakistan on holding elections: US

Spokesperson says United States has an interest in continuity of democratic process in Pakistan.

WASHINGTON: The United States of America says it cannot dictate the government of Pakistan as regard to holding of the general elections due in the country.

In response to a question during his briefing, a State Department spokesperson said America always backed democratic process around the world.

As far as Pakistan is concerned, we want the elections to be held in a transparent manner to give the people of the country to choose their representatives.

He also said that there was no particular favorite political party or a political leader for the US in the South Asian country.

It may be mentioned here that the US has been repeatedly saying that the democrat process in Pakistan should continue leading to the formation of a government in Islamabad.
