MANSEHRA: Police opened fire on a moving car on Hazara Motorway, killing its driver and injuring another man on board the vehicle.
The incident occurred near Qalandarabad Interchange, police department said.
According to media reports, after police firing the car caught fire and the driver died on the spot while another person was injured who was shifted to hospital.
Relatives of the deceased said as the car entered the Abbottabad limits, the police opened without any warning.
On the other hand, police said upon receiving information about presence of timber mafia persons in the car its driver was signalled yo stop but he did not.
A senior police officer said that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident. Local people condemned the police for opening straight fire into the car.
They said even if there were suspicions people, the police have no right to open fire. They demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident and stern action against the officials concerned.
