Caretaker Cabinet Approved for Gilgit-Baltistan

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has approved a 14-member caretaker cabinet for Gilgit-Baltistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, acting as Chairman of the Gilgit-Baltistan Council, issued the official notification for the cabinet.

The caretaker cabinet was appointed in consultation with the caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Justice (retd) Yar Muhammad, and includes Sajid Ali Baig, Engineer Altaf Hussain, Ghulam Abbas, Colonel (retd) Abrar Ismail, Mehrdad Sharafat Din, Maulana Sarmad Shah, Raja Shahbaz Khan, Mumtaz Hussain, Dr. Niaz Ali, Syed Adil Shah, Bahadur Ali, Saeeda Fatima and Abdul Hakeem.

The caretaker cabinet will assume office immediately. The decision follows the completion of the five-year term of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, which was dissolved along with all ministers, advisers, and coordinators.

This action was taken under Section 56 of the Governance Reforms 2019 and following correspondence from the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Secretariat.

Justice (retd) Yar Muhammad has been appointed as the caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.
