Carrying out attack in Pakistan not Jihad, says Taliban fatwa

Consul General says Kabul has no objection over repatriation of illegal Afghan migrants from Pakistan.

PESHAWAR: Afghanistan’s consul general in Peshawar has said that the Taliban government in Kabul has issued a Fatwa under which carrying out an attack in Pakistan is not Jihad.

Talking to a TV channel in Peshawar today, Hafiz Muhibullah Shakir said that during the regime of former president Ashraf Ghani, members of the outlawed Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had gone to Afghanistan to avoid arrest in Pakistan.

He said that the Taliban government in Kabul as well as the defense ministry of Afghanistan have issued separate Fatwas declaring any attack in Pakistan not a Jihad but an un-Islamic act.

He made it clear that the Taliban government would never allow anyone from Afghanistan to carry out attacks in Pakistan.

About the repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals living in Pakistan, the consul general said that Taliban had no objections over it but a proper mechanism should be adopted for the return of the refugees.

He was of the view that there should have been sufficient time for the Afghan nationals to wrap up their belongings before return.

He said arrangements have been made to accommodate all those returning to Afghanistan. Moreover, there is peace in Afghanistan and all those returning to their country can do business to eke out a living, he added.

It may be noted that terror attacks in different parts of KP and Balochistan from across the Afghan border have increased since the takeover in Kabul in 2021.

There are about 1.5 million illegal Afghans in Pakistan besides millions of legal refugees.

A big majority of the illegal Afghans include those who fled and reached Pakistan after the withdraw of US and NATO forces from the war-ravaged country and the takeover of Kabul by the militant group.
