CDWP Approves Rs8 Billion Projects In Different Sectors

Meeting chaired by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal Refers Rs228 Billion Schemes to ECNEC.

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP), chaired by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, approved projects worth Rs8 billion and referred schemes worth Rs228 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.

Among the major initiatives is the construction of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital in Lahore at a cost of Rs74.92 billion. The hospital will be built in two phases with a capacity of 280 beds in the first phase and 300 additional beds in the second phase. The project will be funded through provincial resources.

The CDWP also cleared the Harpo Hydropower Project valued at Rs34.34 billion and approved the Shahdara Imamia Bridge Project, which involves the construction of an eight-lane overhead bridge at a cost of Rs4.67 billion.

In addition, the committee approved compensation payments amounting to Rs68.74 billion for land affectees of the Karachi-Lahore Motorway and Faisalabad Motorway, while also directing the completion of the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway within three years.

A water resources development project in Balochistan, estimated at Rs50 billion, also received approval. Furthermore, a working paper for the issuance of Panda Bonds was endorsed.

The projects are expected to strengthen healthcare, energy, infrastructure, and resource management in the country.
