BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held separate phone conversations with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and his Indian counterpart, expressing concern over rising tensions between the two South Asian neighbors.
According to Chinese media reports, Wang Yi emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, stating that China, as a neighboring country, is deeply concerned about the escalation of hostilities. He conveyed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in Pakistan and stressed the need to avoid further conflict.
Wang Yi praised Pakistan’s significant role in counter-terrorism efforts and reiterated China’s support for Pakistan’s stance against terrorism. He also urged the Indian authorities to adopt dialogue and diplomatic means to resolve outstanding issues peacefully.
China’s involvement highlights its growing role as a stabilizing force in the region and its commitment to promoting peace and cooperation among neighboring countries.
