BEIJING: China has stated that its defence cooperation with Pakistan aims to enhance regional security and stability, and is not directed against any third party.

This clarification follows Pakistan’s recent induction of Chinese-made Z-10ME attack helicopters into its armed forces.

A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, Jiang Bin, highlighted that China is committed to sharing its defense technology advancements with friendly countries like Pakistan to support their military modernization efforts.

The Pakistani military has incorporated the Z-10ME attack helicopters as part of its strategy to upgrade its defence capabilities. Chinese defence experts note that this deal represents the first export contract for the Z-10 helicopter and that its formidable firepower will bolster Pakistan’s defence, particularly in counter-terrorism operations.

Chinese military analyst Zhang Zifeng told the Global Times that the Z-10ME model features enhanced customization over the baseline Z-10, including additional armor plating, advanced warning sensors, and electronic jamming systems, significantly improving the helicopter’s survivability and operational effectiveness.
