NEW YORK: Speakers at a function held in connection with Christmas here paid tribute to the Christian community of Pakistan for their invaluable contributions in various sectors.
They said that the Christian community was a cornerstone in the development of Pakistan.
The Consulate General of Pakistan in New York arranged the event in collaboration with the Pakistan Christian Association.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s Consul General Aamer Ahmed Atozai extended Christmas greetings to the community members. He said Pakistan had always been committed to fostering interfaith harmony.
“Pakistan takes immense pride in its diverse religious and cultural heritage and that the Christian community has been a cornerstone of Pakistan’s development, making invaluable contributions in various sectors,” he said.
“The consulate general of Pakistan in New York remains committed to engaging with all segments of the Pakistani-American diaspora, celebrating cultural and religious diversity, and upholding the values of tolerance and coexistence.”
Pakistan Christian Association USA Chairman William Shahzad and Secretary General James Cyprian while addressing the gathering appreciated the consulate’s collaboration and efforts to celebrate the shared values of peace and unity.
Former federal minister for minorities affairs Akram Masih Gill lauded the consulate’s initiatives to engage with the Christian community and promote inclusivity.
A large number of people from the Christian community attended the event.
