ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa on Sunday took suo motu notice of reported notices to 37 journalists and YouTubers by the cybercrime wing of Federal Investigation Agency.
The chief justice formed a three-member bench headed by himself which will take up the matter on Monday.
The FIA cybercrime wing issued the notices to the 37 media persons for running a smear campaign against the senior judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The FIA on the direction of the federal government investigating social media campaign against the senior judges after the apex court maintained the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan to remove bat as the election symbol of PTI.
The supporters of the PTI had launched misleading propaganda against senior judges. Similar drive was also launched against the army when the PTI chief was arrested last year.
The supporters of the PTI have been habitual of running similar campaigns against leaders of rival political parties especially the PML-N, PPP and the JUI-F.
