RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Asim Munir during his ongoing US visit has met the commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM) Michael Erik Kurilla and discussed cooperation in regional security matters.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations on Tuesday said, “During the meeting held at the headquarters of Tampa, Florida, the two sides discussed cooperation in regional security.”
According to the statement, the two generals reiterated the need for enhancing training interactions between CENTCOM and Pakistan Army.
Gen Asim Munir also visited CENTCOM Joint Operations Center, it added.
Gen Munir last week left for the United States on an official visit for the first time since he assumed the charge of the chief of army staff in November last year.
In October, the army chief and US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin had a telephone conversation and discussed areas of mutual interest as well as recent regional developments.
