Colonel among six armymen martyred in fight against terrorists

Lt Col Muhammad Ali Shaukat was leading an operation against terrorists when he along with five army Jawans embraced martyrdom, says ISPR.

RAWALPINDI: Six army personnel including a lieutenant colonel sacrificed their lives while fighting terrorists in North Waziristan, said the ISPR in a statement here on Saturday.

Lt Col Muhammad Ali Shaukat was leading an operation against terrorists when he along with five army Jawans embraced martyrdom, added the ISPR.

The operation also left six terrorists, which the ISPR described as Khawarij, dead.

The statement said that the army carried out an operation at the hideout of the Khawarij on Oct 4-5 night led by Col Shaukat. During the operation there was an exchange of intense firing that led to the martyrdom of the army personnel.

The lieutenant colonel belonged to Faisalabad while the Jawans were from Swat, Tank, Lakki Marwat and Orakzai.
