LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast rain and snowfall in several districts of Punjab as a new spell of severe cold enters the province.
According to Director General PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia, light rain is expected in Lahore between December 20 and 21, which is likely to improve the ongoing situation of fog and smog. He added that rain and snowfall are also expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, and the Potohar region during the same period.
The PDMA has activated its control room, and 24/7 monitoring of the weather situation is underway. Authorities have advised citizens to take precautionary measures, including wearing masks to protect themselves from smog and avoiding unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions.
The PDMA has also urged relevant departments to remain alert to deal with any emergency situation arising due to rain, cold weather, or snowfall, particularly in hilly areas.
Residents, especially tourists heading to northern and mountainous regions, have been advised to stay updated with weather advisories and follow safety guidelines.
