Collaboration Discussed on Addiction Medicine, Rehabilitation

NEW YORK: The Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Mr. Aamer Ahmed Atozai, held a meeting with Dr. Hussain Muhammad Abdullah, Chief of Addiction Services and Fellowship Program Director at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and President of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).

The two sides held discussions to explore avenues of collaboration in addiction medicine and community rehabilitation.

During the meeting, Dr. Abdullah highlighted his extensive work in mental health advocacy, preventive outreach, clinical treatment, and professional training in addiction medicine. He underscored the importance of raising awareness about substance use disorders and strengthening access to evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation services.

The discussions focused on fostering partnerships with Pakistani-American organizations to enhance community awareness initiatives and promote preventive education. Both sides also explored the possibility of establishing linkages with relevant institutions in Pakistan to facilitate knowledge exchange, professional training, and capacity building in the field of addiction medicine.

The Consul General commended Dr. Abdullah for his valuable contributions to public health and his leadership in advancing addiction treatment services. He reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to supporting collaborative efforts aimed at addressing substance use challenges and promoting community well-being.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to pursue cooperation in community awareness programs, professional exchanges, and joint initiatives to strengthen addiction treatment and rehabilitation efforts.
