Congressman awarded for his role in boosting Pak-US ties

Congressman Al Green stood with the people of Pakistan in difficult times, says Pakistan's ambassador.

WASHINGTON: Congressman Alexander N. Green has been awarded Sitara-i-Khidmat for his contributions in strengthening Pakistan-US relations and his role in combating Islamophobia.

The award was handed over to the Congressman at an investure ceremony held at the embassy of Pakistan in Washington by Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh.

Addressing the ceremony, Pakistan Ambassador said that the two countries have worked closely in different for over seven decades.

The ambassador said that Congressman Green not only worked for the promotion of relations between the two countries but also stood with the people of Pakistan in difficult times. He recalled the congressman’s visit to Pakistan during the devastating floods of 2022.

Ambassador Rizwan Sheikh also paid tribute for the Congressman regarding his role to combat terrorism in Pakistan as well as in the whole region.

Speaking on the occasion, Congressmen Green said that he was thankful to the government and the people of Pakistan for honoring him with the national award.

He said that relations between the United States of America and Pakistan dated back to over seven decades. He said that the peoples and the governments of the two countries had worked together on a number of international issues.

The Congressman stressed the need for further promoting people to people relations between the two countries.
