Consul General, Air Quality Asia President Discuss Collaboration
NEW YORK: Consul General of Pakistan in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai held a meeting with Shazia Rafi, President and Convenor of Sustainable World, Air Quality Asia, at the consulate.
The meeting focused on exploring collaborative efforts aimed at addressing Pakistan’s air quality challenges.
Ms. Rafi briefed Mr. Atozai on her organization’s vision and ongoing initiatives to combat the adverse environmental, health, and economic impacts of deteriorating air quality in Pakistan.
She outlined several key projects that aim to improve air quality, promote sustainable practices, and raise awareness about the importance of clean air for public health and overall well-being.
In response, Mr. Atozai commended the organization’s dedication to environmental sustainability and expressed the Consulate’s full support for initiatives that align with Pakistan’s long-term climate resilience goals. He emphasized the critical importance of enhancing air quality to safeguard public health and improve the quality of life for Pakistan’s citizens.
Both sides agreed to explore further avenues for cooperation, including partnerships with local and international stakeholders, to effectively tackle the growing air pollution crisis in Pakistan.
The consul general reaffirmed that the consulate would continue to back efforts that contribute to improving Pakistan’s environmental policies and advancing global climate action.
