ISLAMABAD: After the government forced the PTI protesters to flee D Chowk and Blue Area by launching a crackdown last night, containers were on Wednesday morning being removed to open blocked roads.

CDA staffers also launched a cleanliness operation in D Chowk and other parts of Islamabad to clear garbage from roads and streets.

However, all educational institutions were closed as the government had announced not to open them as long as the protesters were in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, residents and traders took a sigh of relief as life started coming back to normality in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The residents appreciated the swift action to remove the protesters a few hours after they reached the capital.

They said that all main roads and markets remained closed for over four days creating lots of hardship for the residents. Traders snd laborers were sufferings losses due to blockades of the markets.

It may be noted that jailed PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan had given what he described as a final call for a protest march to Islamabad demanding his immediate release.

The protesters had vowed to stay put at D Chowk of Islamabad till acceptance of their demands. However, Ali Amin Gandapur and Imran’s wife Bushra Bibi were the first to flee when police and Rangers launched an operation to remove them.
