LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out 364 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across Punjab during the past week, resulting in the arrest of 24 terrorists involved in planning attacks across the province.
According to CTD officials, alongside these operations, 5,604 combing operations were conducted, leading to the detention of 501 suspected individuals and the questioning of 228,138 people in order to disrupt terrorist networks and prevent potential attacks.
In a significant development, a dangerous terrorist affiliated with Fatah-ul-Khawarij, identified as Shakir, was apprehended in Lahore. Security forces recovered explosive materials, four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 24 detonators, 58 feet of safety fuse wire, pamphlets, cash, and a prima card from the suspects.
The arrested individuals include Shakeel Ahmed, Mohibullah, Hayat, Ajab Khan, Shoaib, Irfan, Amjad, Ali Raza, Nauman, Rashid Khan, and Shakir, among others.
According to authorities, these terrorists were planning attacks at multiple locations with the aim of spreading fear and panic among the public.
