CTD to Be Made Operational in Gilgit-Baltistan Soon: Caretaker CM

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Justice (R) Yar Muhammad Khan has announced that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) will soon be made operational in the region to further strengthen law enforcement and security measures.

He made these remarks during a meeting with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad. The meeting focused on security arrangements for the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, the overall law and order situation, and initiatives to promote tourism in the region.

The Caretaker Chief Minister emphasized the urgent need to activate the CTD in Gilgit-Baltistan to effectively address security challenges. In response, Mohsin Naqvi assured full federal support, stating that the CTD would be equipped with modern technology and advanced weaponry.

He also pledged that all necessary requirements of Gilgit-Baltistan would be fulfilled to ensure a safe and stable environment.

The Interior Minister further assured that additional security personnel would be deployed during the elections to maintain peace and order at all costs.

He stressed that a secure and peaceful atmosphere is essential for the promotion of tourism, which remains a key sector for Gilgit-Baltistan’s economy.

Officials reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring transparent elections and strengthening institutional capacity to maintain long-term stability in the region.
