Dar hopes Iran–US engagement will ensure lasting regional peace

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar has expressed hope that Iran and the United States will continue dialogue in a positive spirit to achieve durable peace and prosperity in the region.

Announcing the conclusion of the Islamabad talks, he emphasized that both sides must uphold their commitment to the ceasefire.

Briefing the media, Dar said he, along with Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, facilitated several rounds of “intense and constructive” negotiations between the two countries.

He reiterated that Pakistan will continue to play its role in promoting engagement and dialogue between Iran and the United States in the coming days.

The deputy prime minister also thanked both countries for responding to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s call for an immediate ceasefire and for accepting his invitation to hold peace talks in Islamabad.
