Daughter’s killer attacked in London jail

10-year-old Sara Sharif's father is safe but in intensive care after being hit by two persons, say authorities.

LONDON: The Pakistani man recently sentenced to life imprisonment along with his second wife for killing his 10 years old daughter has been attacked and injured in a jail in London.

According to British media reports, the convict Urfan Sharif was attacked by two persons in the West London jail on January 1. They hit him with a weapon made of cans, said the authorities.

The convict was in serious condition with deep wounds and injuries to his neck and face.

It may be mentioned here that last month Urfan was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in London after being found guilty of killing his minor daughter in connivance with her stepmother.

Sara Sharif was found dead in the southern UK town of Woking on August 10, 2023, and a post-mortem test revealed she had suffered “multiple and extensive injuries” over a sustained period, British police said last month.

British police had said that Sara’s father Urfan Sharif, 41, his partner Beinash Batool, 29, and his brother Faisal Malik, 28, fled to Pakistan before the girl’s body was found, sparking an international manhunt.

The trio, along with five children, flew from the UK to Pakistan a day after Sara died. Police believed the trio left the country on Aug 9, a day before Sara’s body was discovered, and that they spent up to 5,000 pounds on one-way tickets to Pakistan for three adults and five children.

The suspects later returned to UK and surrendered to police after which their trial started.
