BEIJING: The death toll in the collapse of a highway bridge in the Shanxi province of China has increased to 40 while scores of people are still missing.
The bridge on the highway collapsed when over a dozen of vehicles were crossing it. The incident raised serious questions over quality of road and bridge construction in China. A similar incident in another province of China had left 36 people dead in May this year.
In the latest incident that happened about two weeks back during heavy rain, had initially left 11 travellers dead. One of those drowned was rescued.
