ISLAMABAD: Thick fog has severely reduced visibility across parts of Pakistan, forcing authorities to temporarily close key sections of Motorways M-1 and M-5 to ensure driver safety.
The affected stretches include M-1 from Peshawar to Burhan and M-5 from Zahir Pir to Uch Sharif, according to the motorway police. Officials have warned that traveling under current conditions is dangerous and advised citizens to postpone non-essential trips.
Punjab’s urban areas are also experiencing poor air quality, with Lahore recorded as the province’s most polluted city at an AQI of 397.
Other cities reporting high pollution levels include Kasur (368), Muzaffargarh (315), Narowal (311), and Gujranwala (308). Lahore ranks fourth among the world’s most polluted cities with an AQI of 194.
Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution while traveling and take steps to protect themselves from air pollution until conditions improve.
