PESHAWAR: Motorway authorities have shut down a major section of the M-1 late Wednesday night as thick fog severely reduced visibility, creating dangerous driving conditions.
According to a spokesperson for the Motorway Police, the stretch from the toll plaza to Rashakai has been closed for all types of traffic until weather conditions improve.
Officials said visibility on the motorway dropped to extremely low levels due to the dense fog, significantly increasing the risk of accidents. Motorists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and use alternative routes.
The spokesperson added that the motorway will be reopened once fog intensity decreases and safe visibility is restored. This marks the second consecutive day that the same section of M-1 has been closed due to similar weather conditions.
Widespread pollution and smog continue to grip several regions, with multiple cities reporting unhealthy air quality. Lahore remains among the most polluted cities on the global index.
