LAHORE: Dense fog has engulfed large parts of Punjab and Sindh, significantly reducing visibility and disrupting road traffic.
As the fog intensified, the Motorway Police temporarily closed several motorway sections most affected by poor visibility to ensure public safety.
According to the Motorway Police, M-3 motorway from Faizpur to Jaranwala has been completely closed due to dense fog. The M-5 motorway from Rahim Yar Khan to Rohri has been shut down because of hazardous driving conditions.
In addition, the M-3 section from Faizpur to Darkhana and the M-4 motorway from Gojra to Abdul Hakeem have also been closed due to thick fog.
Motorway Police stated that the temporary closure of motorways was aimed at protecting lives and property as driving in dense fog can lead to serious accidents. It warned that lane violations in foggy conditions significantly increase the risk of collisions.
Travelers who are compelled to drive during foggy conditions have been advised to strictly follow lane discipline, use fog lights, avoid speeding and maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead.
