BANNU: Participants of the ongoing protest Dharna (sit-in) at Police Lines Chowk in Bannu say they will continue their peaceful protest till acceptance of their demands.
The Dharna has been started by civil society, traders, religious figures and some political parties against rising terrorism in the region and the killing of four peace march participants in Bannu three days ago.
The participants of the sit-in say that police should be given more powers to cope with terror activities and nighttime patrolling enhanced.
Moreover, the Counter-Terrorism Department should be involved in action against terrorists, adding there was no need for a military operation as it badly affected huge numbers of people.
They also say that missing persons should be recovered and steps should be taken to ensure peace in the region.
A large number of people are participating in the Dharna. Routine life remains unaffected in the area and the whole city with all business activities and offices open.
