ISLAMABAD: A significant development in the aviation industry took place with the launch of direct flights between Tehran and Islamabad.

On November 6, the inaugural flight of Mahan Air, flight W5-1184, took off from Islamabad Airport heading to Tehran. The flight was operated on an Airbus A340 and carried 264 passengers.

The event was attended by key officials, including Aftab Gilani, the Chief Operating Officer of Islamabad International Airport, along with Iranian Embassy officials and other senior representatives. The Pakistan Airport Authority ensured that all operational and facilitation arrangements were carried out smoothly.

Aftab Gilani mentioned that Mahan Air will operate two weekly flights between Islamabad and Tehran, providing more convenient travel options for passengers between the two capitals.

The launch of these direct flights marks an important step in strengthening both trade and cultural ties between Pakistan and Iran. The new route is expected to encourage greater people-to-people contact and boost tourism and business between the two countries.
