ISLAMABAD: A petition seeking the disqualification of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has been filed in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

According to details, the petition was submitted by Advocate Mian Sibghatullah Shah, who alleged that the Chief Minister had shown bias and publicly supported candidates of the LIF (Likely Independent Front). The petitioner claimed that this conduct violated the Constitution and the oath of office.

The plea calls for Sohail Afridi’s immediate disqualification and removal from office, urging the ECP to bar him from supporting LIF candidates. It further requests that the Chief Minister be prevented from attending any LIF meetings before November 1.

Copies of the petition have also been sent to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pakistan Bar Council, and the Peshawar High Court Bar Association.

Meanwhile, Uzma Khan claimed that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had told the KP Chief Minister to form his cabinet independently.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, she said that the PTI founder had not proposed any names for the provincial cabinet, leaving the selection to Sohail Afridi’s discretion.
