Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s Bail Requests in May 9 Cases Rejected

LAHORE: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has rejected the bail applications of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid in two cases related to the May 9 incidents.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid had filed bail petitions in connection with the cases of arson at Shadman Police Station and the attack on Rahat Bakery. The court dismissed both applications, with Judge Manzar Ali Gul stating that the bail requests had become ineffective after the convictions were already pronounced.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid has already been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in each of these two cases.

In the May 9 cases, Yasmin Rashid and Ijaz Chaudhry were sentenced to 10 years each while Shah Mehmood was acquitted. Earlier hearings on Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s bail had been postponed. Dr. Yasmin Rashid was also transferred back to Kot Lakhpat Jail after receiving treatment at Services Hospital.
