DUBAI: A drone attack near Dubai International Airport triggered a fire on Monday morning, forcing authorities to temporarily suspend incoming flights and activate emergency procedures.
According to the Dubai Media Office, the incident occurred when a drone-related event caused a tanker near the airport to catch fire. Emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the scene and began efforts to contain and extinguish the blaze.
Officials stated that firefighting operations are ongoing and that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of residents and airport personnel.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties have been reported so far. However, as a precautionary measure, aircraft scheduled to land at Dubai airport were temporarily prevented from landing. Several flights were placed in holding patterns in the airspace around the airport until the situation could be stabilized.
Meanwhile, Saudi State TV reported that 34 drones were intercepted and shot down within one hour, although further details about the origin of the drones have not yet been confirmed.
