LAHORE: Ambassador of Netherlands Robert Jan Siegert met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday and discussed broadening bilateral cooperation in different sectors.
During the meeting, both sides reached an understanding to deepen collaboration in trade, agricultural innovation, higher education, technical skills development, water management, and research initiatives.
Maryam Nawaz underscored Punjab’s interest in forging stronger academic and research links with leading Dutch universities, noting that enhanced joint programs could greatly benefit scientific and technological advancement in the province.
She highlighted the potential of Dutch expertise in agriculture, saying that the Netherlands’ partnership in improving potato cultivation could lead to “transformational outcomes” for Punjab’s farming sector.
She praised the presence of Dutch companies operating in Pakistan, describing their continued engagement as a strong reflection of investor confidence.
The chief minister added that relations between Pakistan and the Netherlands are rooted in mutual development goals.
Both parties reaffirmed their intention to build upon existing cooperation and explore new opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties across multiple domains.
