ECP extends last date for filing of nomination papers

Two-day extension made on request of political parties, including PML-N, MQM and JUI-F.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday announced to extend the last date for filing of nomination papers for national and provincial assembly seats across the country.

The two-day extension was made on the request of political parties, including PML-N, MQM and JUI-F, who said that they were facing hardship in meeting the deadline of December 22 for filing the papers, especially in Balochistan. 

Earlier, the ECP had fixed December 22 as the last date which has now been extended to December 24.

Moreover, political parties can now submit lists of candidates for the reserved seats by December 24. The scrutiny of all the nomination papers will be done from December 25 to December 30.
