Tight security planned for sensitive polling stations

Uncertainty about holding of elections goes away, preparations for elections st final stage.

ISLAMABAD: As February 8 approaching fast, uncertainty surrounding the holding of general elections in the country is going away with preparations at final stage and candidates canvassing at full power.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, more than 92,000 polling stations would be set up across the country for the election yo the national and provincial assembly seats on February 8.

Though the Election Commission of Pakistan will announce its detailed plan for the polls a few days before Feb 8, it has stated 52,412 polling stations will be established in Punjab, out if which 6,040 have been declared highly sensitive.

Moreover, 15,617 polling stations in the province have been declared sensitive.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the commission is going to open 15,737 polling stations and security agencies have declared 4,726 of these stations highly sensitive and 6,180 sensitive.

The ECP is going to establish 6,576 polling stations in Sindh out of which 4,718 have been categorized as sensitive, and 7,80 as highly sensitive. Similarly, 5,015 polling stations will be set up in Balochistan.
