ECUADOR: Eight people were killed in a shooting at a nightclub in Ecuador, according to foreign media reports.
The incident took place in the rural town of Santa Lucia, located in Guayas — considered the country’s most dangerous coastal province.
Authorities said that heavily armed suspects arrived on motorcycles and in two cars, opening indiscriminate fire. Seven people died on the spot, while one person succumbed to injuries in hospital. The victims were between 20 and 40 years old.
Three other people were injured and were rushed to hospital for immediate medical treatment.
The motive for the attack is still unknown, but officials say investigations are underway.
