According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan, Egypt, Türkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates jointly opposed Israel’s position on the Gaza plan and said its rejection amounted to a direct challenge to the broader initiative and efforts aimed at achieving peace.

The joint statement said the Gaza roadmap, which has been accepted by Palestinian factions, calls for the withdrawal of Israeli forces, deployment of an international stabilisation force and reconstruction of Gaza. The countries warned that Israel’s rejection of the roadmap could jeopardise implementation of the comprehensive plan.

The eight countries also called on the United States to ensure full implementation of the comprehensive plan and the roadmap. They said Israel would bear direct responsibility for the consequences of continued rejection and obstruction of the peace efforts.

The statement stressed that immediate and full implementation of the plan was essential to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

It also reaffirmed support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and rejected any unilateral efforts to undermine the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The countries reiterated that lasting peace could only be achieved through a two-state solution, with an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.

The joint statement further called for the continued role of the Board of Peace and urged it, with active US support, to take immediate steps to safeguard the comprehensive plan and accelerate efforts to implement the roadmap.
