LONDON: The British government has announced emergency measures for the security and safety of mosques in the country after far-right violence hit many cities.
One such measure was announced by the home department yesterday according to which the Rapid Response Force of the police would be on a standby and can be called to deal with any security issues in mosques.
The force can be requisitioned by the local authorities, police and the community to ensure protection of the community and their places of worship, said the home department.
Earlier, British Prime Minister had taken strong notice of protests and said these were not protests but rightwing hooliganism that would not be tolerated.
He said that all citizens had equal rights to live and practice their religions in the country and the government was duty bound to ensure protection of the citizens irrespective of their religious affiliations.
The prime minister also said that all those trying to disrupt peace and communal harmony would be brought to justice.
In the recent wave of attacks, dozens of citizens and police personnel were injured in different cities of UK.
