Envoy Highlights Pakistan’s Strategic Importance at Harvard Moot

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has underscored his country’s vast potential, strategic significance and resilient progress despite longstanding challenges.

Addressing a conference at Harvard University, the ambassador stated that Pakistan has been endowed with abundant natural and human resources, particularly its large and dynamic youth population, which remains one of the country’s greatest strengths.

He said that Pakistan holds a pivotal position in global affairs due to its geographic location, political history, and decisive role in international matters.

Referring to the vision of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, he noted that the founding father had foreseen Pakistan emerging as a central player on the global stage.

Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic credibility, Ambassador Sheikh revealed that the country was chosen as a facilitator for talks between the United States and Iran, reflecting decades of consistent and constructive diplomatic engagement. He expressed gratitude to both nations for their trust and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to sincere facilitation efforts.

The ambassador acknowledged that Pakistan faced numerous challenges since its inception but has made steady progress toward development. He expressed confidence that the country’s future is bright and in capable hands.

Discussing security issues, he described Pakistan as one of the most affected countries by terrorism. He stressed that Pakistan has paid the highest price in the global war against terrorism and continues to do so, while remaining steadfast in its resolve to eliminate the threat.

Ambassador Sheikh urged observers to assess Pakistan’s performance in light of the challenges it has faced. He further noted that Pakistan–United States relations are not merely optional but are essential for present and future cooperation.

He called for enhanced economic collaboration between the two countries, describing it as mutually beneficial. Inviting American businesses and investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan, he reaffirmed the government of Pakistan’s commitment to providing full facilitation and support to foreign investors.
