NEW YORK: The Consulate General of Pakistan in New York, in collaboration with the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), hosted a community networking session at the Consulate premises, bringing together leading members of the Pakistani diaspora, academia, and business community.
Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, Mr. Rizwan Saeed Shaikh, in his remarks, underscored the critical role of academia in Pakistan’s socioeconomic progress. He highlighted the Embassy and Consulates’ commitment to supporting academic institutions like NUST in fostering innovation, research, and human capital development.
He commented NUST’s contributions as a premier center of excellence, noting that the university is playing a pivotal role in equipping Pakistan’s youth to meet global challenges.
The event featured a presentation by Pro Rector of NUST, Dr. Rizwan Riaz, who briefed the audience on NUST’s key development efforts, research ecosystem, and transformative initiatives. He emphasized the university’s focus on aligning with international standards, fostering industry-academia partnerships, and expanding opportunities for deserving students through scholarships and diaspora support.
Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Mr. Aamer Ahmed Atozai, in his closing remarks, reiterated the Consulate’s role in building bridges between Pakistan’s leading academic institutions and the diaspora community in the United States.
He stressed that the Consulate General stands ready to facilitate partnerships and create linkages that help strengthen Pakistan’s education sector, innovation capacity, and global competitiveness.
A highlight of the evening was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NUST and Emaago, a global tech company operating at the intersection of Cyber and Artificial Intelligence.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Hasham Masood, Strategic Advisor at Emaago, and Ms. Arooba Gilani on behalf of NUST. Under this agreement, Emaago committed to supporting NUST through scholarships and internship opportunities, designed to provide deserving students with access to quality education and pathways into professional employment.
