NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh here emphasised the active participation of Pakistani Americans in local politics and community affairs.
He was speaking at the Annual Fundraiser Gala Dinner of the American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee (APPAC) in New York.
Ambassador Sheikh, who attended the event alongside Consul General Aamer Ahmed Atozai, said meaningful engagement in political processes was essential for strengthening the community’s representation and influence across the United States.
He encouraged attendees to “engage more deeply with political processes” to ensure their voices are effectively heard at all levels of government.
Commending APPAC for empowering the Pakistani-American community politically, civically and socially, the ambassador said continuous, active involvement is key to building a stronger presence in policymaking arenas.
He noted that APPAC had become a powerful platform that ensures Pakistani Americans have a respected voice in local, state, and federal decision-making.
The ambassador also described Pakistan-U.S. relations as cordial and stable, adding that the current environment presents opportunities to deepen cooperation.
He acknowledged APPAC’s vital contributions in fostering ties with elected officials, promoting constructive dialogue, and countering misconceptions while highlighting the achievements of Pakistani Americans nationwide.
