Ex-foreign minister Sartaj Aziz passes away

ISLAMABAD: Former foreign minister and veteran PML-N leader Sartaj Aziz has passed away at the age of 93, according to media reports. 

In a post on X, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal broke the news about the death of Mr Aziz: “Mr Sartaj Aziz has passed away. He was a veteran of Pakistan movement & great asset for the nation. He will be missed very much. His services for the nation will always be remembered. I had honour of working with him very closely and will never forget his affection and guidance. May Allah Bless his soul and Grant patience to the family Ameen!”

Aziz was born on February 9, 1929, in Nowshera. He was a graduate of Harvard  University and joined the civil service of Pakistan in 1950. Later, he joined politics and remained senator from 1985 to 1999.

He was made the foreign minister in the PML-N government in 2013. Earlier, he also remained the finance minister and minister of state for agriculture.
