ISLAMABAD: Former National Assembly speaker and senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser was on Friday evening arrested from his residence in the federal capital. 

Sources said that the arrest was made in connection with a case regarding corruption in the purchase of equipment for a hospital in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The  approached the Islamabad police seeking its assistance in the arrest of Mr Qaiser.

A police and ACE team raided the residence of the former speaker and arrested him. He was taken to an undisclosed place by the police and ACE officials.  

Asad Qaiser’s brother in a video message said that plainclothesmen came to their house and took away the PTI leader.
