PESHAWAR: Former provincial minister for information belonging to the PTI, Shaukat Yousufzai, was on Wednesday offloaded from a plane going out of the country by officials from different agencies.

Shaukat Yousufzai told media that he was going to Saudi Arabia from the Bacha Khan International Airport Peshawar when he was offloaded by officials in plainclothes.

He said he was detained at the airport by officials for more than two hours and then allowed to go home when the plane had departed.

He said he was scheduled to depart at 9:15am via Emirates flight EK-637 for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. He stated that after the boarding process was completed, the airport’s security officials came and took him into their custody without any reason.

When asked, the officials told him that they had orders from higher authorities.

Yousafzai said that there was neither any case and nor his name was on the ECL, but he was not allowed to proceed to perform Umrah.

He said he would file a petition in the high court against the officials for offloading him.
