Fawad, wife Hiba disqualified to contest polls

Records presented in election tribunals show Hiba concealed nine bank accounts and three foreign tours.

RAWALPINDI: An election tribunal in Rawalpindi rejected the appeal of Hiba Fawad, wife of PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, against the rejection of her nomination papers on Saturday.

After rejection of her appeal, the tribunal also withdrew the acceptance of Fawad Chaudhry’s nomination papers.

According to the records presented in the election tribunals, Hiba concealed nine bank accounts and three foreign tours in his nomination papers.

The record of the bank accounts was presented by the State Bank of Pakistan while the details of the foreign visits were presented in the tribunal by the Federal Investigation Agency.

The election tribunal stated that Fawad Chaudhry also concealed the bank accounts and foreign visits of his wife. As a result, the tribunal withdrew the acceptance of his nominations for two National Assembly seats in Jhelum.

The tribunal then issued notice to Fawad Chaudhry to appear before it on January 9.

Hiba denies news

However, late in the evening, Hiba Fawad denied the reports about her disqualification and said she had taken back her papers in order to avoid any hurdles for her husband who is in NAB custody.

She said she had taken her nomination papers back on the advice of her husband.
