Under the revised procedure, users can pay the applicable sales tax through the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS), with the total amount divided into equal instalments for the remaining months of the financial year.
Applicants must select the instalment option when submitting their registration request. The first instalment must be paid through the Payment Slip Identification (PSID) generated at the time of application, while subsequent payments must be made monthly through separate PSIDs.
The FBR has made it mandatory to clear all instalments before June 30. Users may also pay the remaining amount ahead of schedule.
However, failure to pay an instalment by its due date will result in the user being declared a defaulter. In such cases, the mobile phone may be classified as unregistered and blocked through DIRBS.
The FBR has also warned that a missed payment will make the entire outstanding sales tax immediately payable, while the facility to pay in instalments will be withdrawn.
