According to 24 News HD, the FBR has issued an official circular announcing the extension. The decision was made under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance following requests from various trade organisations and tax bar associations seeking additional time to file returns.

This marks the second extension granted for filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2026. The original deadline of September 30 had previously been extended to October 15.

FBR officials said the latest extension was approved after considering requests from business organisations and tax professionals. Taxpayers who were required to file their returns by October 15 can now submit them by October 31, 2026.
