PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle in Peshawar has arrested a key member of a gang involved in illegal kidney transplants.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the suspect, identified as Aimal Khan, was taken into custody in Mardan following a complaint from an affected citizen.

Investigations revealed that Khan was responsible for administering anesthesia during the unlawful procedures and had earned millions of rupees through the illicit trade.

The spokesperson added that the accused operated with the support of private hospitals, while several other individuals and facilitators were also part of the network.

The FIA confirmed that further arrests are expected as the investigation widens. Authorities have gathered substantial evidence against the suspect and assured that a strong case will be presented in court to ensure strict punishment.

The agency appealed to the public to report any information regarding the illegal trade or transplantation of human organs to the nearest FIA office. “No one will be allowed to play with the lives of innocent citizens,” the spokesperson stressed.
